Work history
I started at Westward television in 1977 as a trainee in production then moved to LWT as a studio cameraman.
I went to Television South West to pilot a magazine show for teenagers called Sounding Bored, after that I made a documentary called Exile about Tibetans living in India, shot on 16mm then produced a short feature called Beautiful Thing for director/writer Erik Knudsen.
I then moved back into television production, working for Sky One then joined TV3 as a promo producer for Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
I was a promo producer at the Discovery channel then I joined the launch team for UK Gold with a company called Caplan & Wilkie. After the launch I was asked to join UK Gold continuing to make promos until I moved to Living TV and then onto Flextech working on many of their channels.
During this time I wrote, shot, cast, directed and produced all my own on air material.
I started freelancing in 2000 and worked for Movie channels and directed the Architectural Awards documentary for Sky, made the relaunch promos for Granada TV as they resurrected Crossroads! I also prepared and produced ITN’s pitch for the mega screens at most major UK train stations, which we won! The Media trust approached me with a project for the Inside Out Trust, which we shot over a year in and out of prisons looking at the training available for inmates within the prison system, the documentary which was well received.
Since then I have produced the odd short film, one of which called The Right Hand Man went on to win awards in a short film festival and was shown at Cannes 2006.
